According to Jota:

I was a fan of the show Cowboy Bebop and thought the characters would make good buttons. Not a lot of sets used Auxiliary, so I thought it would be be a good choice here to tie the set together, especially given that most of the characters had their own ships. Aside from that, it was just whatever seemed to fit the character's personality.
