This character was created by Button Men player Spindisc and was available at SydCon 10. There are three gradations of rarity for Gripen, based on coloration: 68% have a blue background, 24% have purple, and 4% have black.[1] There is an estimated print run of 1000 of this button among all three variations.
According to Spindisc:
In Swedish game conventions (back in the old day) you used pinned badges to indicate your role at the convention, from normal guest, to event holder, to management.
The Gripen buttonmen was used as the image on all those badges at a game convention called SydCon, and we had 3 different images depending on your role. I don't remember what year but it was in 90's.
I created Gripen and iterated the Rage die ability together with James Ernest. The illustrations are made by Peter Svärd.
The original artwork for Gripen has been lost.
